Creating your own muesli offers a multitude of benefits beyond simply satisfying morning hunger pangs.

By hand-selecting ingredients tailored to your taste bud and nutritional needs, you gain control over every aspect of your breakfast bowl. Whether you prefer a hearty mix of oats, nuts, and dried fruits or a lighter blend with seeds and grains, homemade muesli allows you to optimize your morning meal for flavour, texture, and health.

Using Comvita™ Mānuka honey in this recipe will give your muesli a depth of flavour, due to the unique flavour profile as well as a nutritional boost combined with a great energy source. We have used pecans, dried apple and dried cranberries for this flavour, but do look at what is on special in the supermarket, and feel free to mix it up, just using the same ratios.

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup Comvita™ Mānuka Blend honey
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 3 cups rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup bran flakes
  • 1/2 cup flaked coconut
  • 1/4 cup sesame seeds
  • 1/4 cup sunflower seeds
  • 1/4 cup pecan nuts, chopped
  • 1/2 cup dried apple, roughly chopped
  • 1/2 cup dried cranberries

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 150°C. Line a large deep baking dish with baking paper.
  2. Mix dry ingredients in a large bowl.
  3. Combine Comvita™ Mānuka Blend honey, brown sugar, and olive oil in a saucepan over medium heat. Warm slowly, stirring often. The sugar will dissolve completely, and the mixture will become very runny.
  4. Pour warm Mānuka honey mixture over the dry mix and blend through thoroughly.
  5. Spread mixture evenly over base of dish. 6. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, stirring every 10 minutes, or until golden and toasted.
  6. Set aside to cool completely (muesli will form crisp clusters on cooling).
  7. Crumble muesli into an airtight container until ready to serve.
